Blink-And-You’ll-Miss-Bana in Star Trek

“Chopper” star says his role is no more than a “cameo”

In an interview to promote his new movie “The Other Boleyn Girl” (I believe I actually dated the Opther Boleyn Girl – the one they didn’t make a movie about), Eric Bana tells The Herald Sun that his role in the forthcoming “Star Trek” isn’t so much a central villain as it is merely a fun “cameo”.

“It’s just a great character, it’s J.J. Abrams. It’s a really well-written script, great part. Couldn’t say no”says Bana, adding that the size of the role didn’t matter. “I don’t actually look at the size of parts ever.”

Yep, seems Bana’s merely donating a few days to the film to play Romulan bad guy ‘Nero’. Undoubtedly, he’ll be on screen longer than Christian Slater was in “Star Trek VI : The Undiscovered Country” and Bryan Singer in “Star Trek : Nemesis, but won’t drop as many sweat beads as Ricardo Montalban did playing ‘Khan’ or Christopher Lloyd did playing… well, whatever the name of his frickin’ ugly character was.

Meantime, The Celebrity Truth says Bana jokingly revealed the plot of the new “Trek” flick to radio’s Merrick & Rosso.

“OK, so here’s what happens,” Bana begins.

“You’ve got this ship right? And it’s flying through the air, like, really fast. It lands, and these dudes get out.

“Then there’s these other dudes, some of them have ears, some of them haven’t, and they get into a bit of a fight. There’s heaps of bullets flying and one of the ships has trouble taking off. Then they fix that ship and then there’s a couple of other guys flying around..” Bana pauses before asking, “Is this good? Then this other guy turns up and he’s had some problems with his missus…”
