“Spider-Man : Far From Home” star Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in “Oblivion Song,” an adaptation of Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici’s graphic novel about a man who makes daily trips to try and rescue those still living in Oblivion, an apocalyptic hellscape in Philadelphia that was lost a decade prior, along with 300,000 of its citizens. Did Ridley Scott kill Neil Blomkamp’s proposed “Aliens” sequel? the filmmaker sure seems to think so. In a new interview, the filmmaker thinks the poor performance of one of his previous films at the box-office didn’t bode well with Scott. “It’s possible that Ridley watched ‘Chappie’ and he was like, ‘This guy can’t do ‘Alien’ so let’s just go ahead and move on… there’s no coming back from that. I’m not gonna work on a film for two years and have the rug pulled out from underneath me and then go hang out and have beers. “Scary Movie” alum Marlon Wayans is set to star and produce and untitled Halloween pic for Netflix. The adventure-comedy will be directed by “Kick-Ass 2” director Jeff Wadlow with Rob Rugan, Todd Berger, John R. Morey penning the script. The story follows a teenage girl, who after accidentally unleashing an ancient and mischievous spirit on Halloween, which causes decorations to come alive and wreak havoc, must team up with the last person she’d want to in order to save their town – her skeptical father (Wayans). Former “Legends of Tomorrow” star Brandon Routh will lead the voice cast of the animated series “Magic : The Gathering” at Netflix.  Picked up straight to series in June 2019, the anime series unites familiar and well-loved Planeswalkers for Magic fans and introduces new characters to tell a new story. Searchlight Pictures has dropped three new character trailers for Wes Anderson’s “The French Dispatch”, which opens October 22.

 

Warner Bros., STUDIOCANAL, and American Zoetrope today announced the forthcoming 4K restoration of the 1983 American coming-of-age drama, THE OUTSIDERS THE COMPLETE NOVEL, from Academy Award®-winning visionary director Francis Ford Coppola. Created to give fans more of the action that took place in S.E. Hinton’s celebrated book, Coppola’s latest, definitive version includes new music, as well as several scenes cut from the theatrical version which were reconstructed from original camera negatives. Warner Bros. will release THE OUTSIDERS THE COMPLETE NOVEL theatrically in the US and Canada beginning on September 26th with tickets going on sale this week.  Details are available at Fandango.com. Warner Bros. will also make both it and the original version available in a 4K UHD Collector’s Edition and on digital platforms starting November 9th. Additionally, THE OUTSIDERS THE COMPLETE NOVEL will be available on HBO Max beginning on November 16th and will also air this fall on Turner Classic Movies (TCM).
