  • FilmJerk review the script for the upcoming Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer/Nicolas Cage blockbuster “National Treasure” today.

  • The latest Godzilla film underwent a title change recently. Previously “Godzilla X Mothra”, it is now called “Godzilla X Mothra X Mechagodzilla”. The film is said to be a direct sequel to Godzilla x Mechagodzilla, and will explore further the link between Godzilla and his robot double via the DNA used to make Mechagodzilla. It is rumored that this film is the 2nd part of a trilogy, which will have a dramatic conclusion next year on Godzilla’s 50th anniversary. Thanks to ‘Joseph’

  • Screen Daily reports that filmmaker Patrick Braoude will direct a live-action adaptation of the famous Rene Goscinny-created French comic book character “Iznogoud”. Filming begins early next year. Thanks to Dark Horizons

  • Coming Soon have a description of the trailer for “The Passion”, from Mel Gibson.

  • Craig Zadan and Neil Meron [“Chicago”] will produce a film version of “Damn Yankees” for Miramax, reports Variety.

  • Jude Law is set to star in the historical romance film “Tulip Fever”, to be directed by “Shakespeare in Love” director John Madden early next year for DreamWorks Pictures and Miramax Films.

  • Production on “Skeleton Key” is going to be held up for a while because of Kate Hudson’s pregnancy, reports Variety.

  • Penelope Cruz is in talks to star in “Non ti muovere” (Don’t Move) for Director Sergio Castellito. In it, she’d play Italia, a vulgar, introverted, working-class girl whom life has treated hard.

  • According to Superhero Hype, “Smallville : Season One” hits DVD September 23 in the states. You can pre-order the set at the Moviehole DVD Store now.

  • Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac are attached to star in the Columbia Pictures comedy "The Dinner Party," says The Hollywood Reporter. It’s about a man (Kutcher) marrying a black woman whose father (Mac) is having difficulty coming to terms with the marriage.

  • Trey Parker and Matt Stone, of “South Park” fame, are doing a new film for Paramount about superheroes on a mission to eradicate such things as terrorism and certain celebrities who have outworn their welcome in the public eye. The Hollywood Reporter says Parker and Stone will direct and voice the project as well.

  • "Will & Grace" star Debra Messing has teamed with Dermot Mulroney to topline Gold Circle Films’ romantic comedy "Something Borrowed”, says The Hollywood Reporter. The film sees Messing star as Kat Ellis, a young woman who returns to her parents’ London home for her sister’s wedding and has to confront her ex-fiancée, who dumped her two years before. In a desperate attempt to face the ordeal with dignity, Kat hires a top-drawer male escort (Mulroney) to pose as her new boyfriend, only to realize that pretend relationships could be more nerve racking that facing up to the truth.
