Danny Elfman confirms involvement in “exciting” sequel

The composer of Batman, Beetlejuice, The Nightmare Before Christmas and more!

A couple of days ago we got wind that Beetlejuice 2, starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder is a lock, with Tim Burton expected to begin shooting the film shortly.

Now, the composer of the original film – and much of Burton’s back catalog – Danny Elfman tells Deadline that he’s returning to score the film, rumored to be filming as early as next month in the UK.

It is “very exciting, to return to that world” said the famed music maestro.

Elfman also mentioned that he was recently asked, “Really, after all these years? Michael Keaton?,” to which he responded:

“I said, ‘He’s not even going to look that much different. That’s the beauty of the Beetlejuice makeup. He already looked like he was 150 in the first one.’ It’s perfect, you know? Everybody else has to play the next generation, except for Michael. I mean, he’s still like really fit and really active and really on it. And with the Beetlejuice makeup, I can’t even imagine it’s going to look like he’s changed practically at all. So, I can’t wait for that.”

Aside from Keaton and Ryder, Beetlejuice 2 is rumored to be bringing back Catherine O’Hara and adding Jenna Ortega as Ryder’s offspring.
