Distributor, start date, location set for Jay & Silent Bob Reboot!

The cast is starting to fatten up (even if it’s director isn’t – go Kev!), the veggie burgers are on the caterer truck, the Nikon’s rolled with film and the snootchie’s have found the bootchies . Yup, that cant-come-any-sooner “Jay & Silent Bob” sequel is actually happening!

Saban Films has picked up the rights to “Jay & Silent Bob Reboot”, which will again see Kevin Smith – also helming – and Jason Mewes playing the legendary stoner icon characters they originated all those years ago in ’90s classic “Clerks”.

“In Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back our herbal heroes found out Hollywood was making a movie based on them, so they journeyed out to Hollywood to stop it,” says Smith. “In Jay & Silent Bob Reboot our herbal heroes find out Hollywood is making a reboot of the old movie that was based on them, so they journey out to Hollywood to stop it again.”

Mewes added: “I’m tired of doing Shakespeare all the time so it’ll be nice to get back to playing Jay again.”

The film is also expected to feature a multitude of the duo’s famous friends including Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes from TV’s “The Flash”, which Smith has directed and both have appeared on, and Brian O’Halloran, best known for playing Dante in Smith’s “Clerks” films.

The film starts lensing February 25 in New Orleans.

Saban Films’ Bill Bromiley said, “Jay and Silent Bob is a global franchise which has a very loyal fan base. Partnering with Kevin at script stage on the next chapter of these iconic characters is a huge milestone.”

Saban are planning a theatrical for the film across North America. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has picked up all international rights, suggesting the film may go direct-to-disc outside of the U.S.
