Flash helmer confirmed to direct Batman : Brave and the Bold

Hollywood’s worst kept secret.

The worst kept secret in Hollywood, that Andy Muschietti (It, It Chapter Two) is directing Warner Bros’ Batman : Brave and the Bold has finally been confirmed by the studio. Coincedentally – Okay, perhaps not – the studio opted to reveal the news on the day Muschietti’s well-received but slightly worrisome The Flash opens in theaters.

The film, which will see father-and-son Bruce Wayne and Damien Wayne aka Robin teaming up to fight crime, won’t feature Michael Keaton’s incarnation of the Caped Crusader (nor him, him, him or him) but a new actor behind the cowl (One persistent rumor suggests producer James Gunn has his eye on “Supernatural” actor Jensen Ackles for the role).

“We saw The Flash even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of only a visionary director, but a massive DC fan,” said Gunn and DC Films co-chairman Peter Safran in a statement to Deadline.

“It’s a magnificent film — funny, emotional, thrilling — and Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame.”

“So when it came time to find a director for The Brave and the Bold, there was really only one choice.”

“Luckily, Andy said ‘yes’, Barbara [Muschietti] signed on to produce with us and were on our way,” the duo continued.

“They’re an extraordinary team, and we couldn’t have better or more inspiring partners as we embark on this thrilling new adventure in the DCU.”

The Muschiettis are currently working on the It prequel series ”Welcome to Derry” for WB-owned HBO.
