Hunger Games prequel in the works

Suzanne Collins, author of the incredibly popular “Hunger Games” novel trilogy, is releasing a new novel in the series in May 2020 – a prequel set 64 years before the start of the original “Hunger Games” novel series and timed for the reaping of the Tenth Hunger Games. Of course with new material comes interest from Lionsgate to bring the book to the big screen!

“As the proud home of the Hunger Games movies, we can hardly wait for Suzanne’s next book to be published. We’ve been communicating with her during the writing process and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her on the movie,” Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said Monday in a statement.

The “Hunger Games” franchises proved to be a winner at the box office, earning nearly $3 billion worldwide. It starred Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, alongside Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks.

In the meantime, let’s start the countdown to the new book!
