Mortal Kombat 2 gets a referee, er, director!

Jeremy Slater, head writer on the Marvel/Disney+ series “Moon Knight”, is writing

In January, it was reported that New Line were greasing the wheels on another clash between those seemingly immortal gods of an apocalyptic thunderdome.

Confirmation (via Deadline) today that Aussie “Mortal Kombat” director Simon McQuoid will retain his position as director on the next film.

Jeremy Slater, head writer on the Marvel/Disney+ series “Moon Knight”, with other credits including “Uprising” (directed by Travis Knight) and Stephen King’s “The Tommyknockers” for Universal and James Wan, is writing.

“Mortal Kombat” opened simultaneously on HBO Max and in cinemas in 2021 and was very successful at the box office, so no doubt a sequel will be welcomed with open arms by fans. The film starred Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Joe Taslim, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Tadanobu Asano and Chin Han.
