Reboots of Starsky & Hutch, Hellboy on the way

One of them will be made for the small screen

Universal Pictures

Remakes of both ”Starsky & Hutch” and Hellboy are said to be in the works at FOX/Sony Pictures Television and Millennium Media, respectively.

While the former will be a new TV series, Hellboy will be rebooted for the big screen. It has only been 3 years since Neil Marshall brought to the screen the last feature adaptation of Mike Mignola comic, that version starring David Harbour.

There had been talk of Ron Perlman and Guillermo Del Toro, star and helmer of the first two live-action Hellboy films, finally getting up a third instalment of their OG run of films but seems that is not the case.

According to Discussing Film, the reboot will be helmed by Crank co-director Brian Taylor. The script for Hellboy : The Crooked Man, likely based on the comic arc of the same title, is already complete.

Meanwhile, Deadline reported earlier today that a female-skewed version of ”Starsky & Hutch” is in the works at Fox.

Sounding like it could share a Quantum Leap-like link to the original, the new version sees two female cops working the beat in the offbeat town of Desert City, juggling solving crimes – one of which involved their respective fathers’, who are sitting in jail, wrongly accused of murder – while staying true to their friendship.

Sam Sklaver (“Prodigal Son”) and Elizabeth Peterson (“The Resident”) are serving as writers/showrunners on the project.
