Martin Scorsese will direct a series based on his 2002 movie Gangs of New York.

Set up at Miramax Television, the series will fix on different characters other than the ones played by Daniel Day-Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Cameron Diaz in the film. Per Deadline, the film will fix on rival gangs during the mid-to-late 1800’s.

Brett Leonard (“Shantaram”) pens the series, out to buyers next month.
