Statham to star in “lightning-paced thriller” from Salt scribe

Jason Statham will star in a new actioner from “Point Break” and “Salt” scribe Kurt Wimmer.

The Miramax-produced “The Bee Keeper”, which the studio shelled out seven figures for, is described as a “lightning-paced thriller deeply steeped in the mythology of Bee Keeping”, according to Deadline.

Wimmer, Statham and Miramax CEO Bill Block are set to produce the film, which lenses from September in London and Atlanta.

“The Bee Keeper explores universal themes with an unconventional story that will have fans sitting on the edge of their seats. We’re excited to bring another iconic and irresistible film to audiences around the globe,” said Block.

Statham recently collaborated with Miramax on Guy Ritchie’s next and the hit “Wrath of Man”, which has snagged close to $104M at the global box office.
