‘Superman’ series axes most of it’s cast members

Some bad news to follow up that good news…

The CW

Ninety percent of the cast of The CW’s Superman & Lois are being let go ahead of the recently-announced fourth season.

As a compromise for another ten episodes on the 2023-2024 sked, the former Frog network has made some significant budget cuts on the small-screen superhero outing, most markedly when it comes to cast.

While stars Tyler Hoechlin (Clark/Superman) and ‘Bitsy’ Tulloch (Lois) are safe, sadly a few of their co-stars have been pink slipped.

Departing as series regulars are Dylan Walsh, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Erik Valdez, Inde Navarrette, Wolé Parks, Tayler Buck and Sofia Hasmik. Most will likely appear briefly, somewhere, during the next – likely last – season but that depends on scheduling and, of course, whether or not the actors snag employment elsewhere that prevents them from network hopping.

Deadline, who had the scoop, adds :

Returning for Season 4 are Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as the title characters, fellow series regulars Michael Bishop and Alex Garfin as their children as well as Michael Cudlitz who plays Lex Luthor.

Of the departing thesps..

Walsh portrays General Sam Lane. Chriqui plays Lana Lane Cushing. Valdez plays Kyle Cushing. Parks portrays John Henry Irons/Captain Luthor. Navarrette plays the role of Sarah Cushing. Hasmik joined the series at the beginning of Season 2 in the role of Chrissy Beppo. Buck, who plays Natalie Irons, came on board in Season 1 as a recurring, appearing in 2 episodes, and was promoted to series regular for Seasons 2 and 3.

The previous seasons of Superman & Lois have extended to 13 episodes a pop, so ten is definitely an indication that this could be the final chapter for the well-received show.

Denzel Washington reprising this ’90s character for belated sequel!?

Anyone for a ‘Short Round’ spin-off series?
