Top Gun team developing Days of Thunder sequel

Which Paramount wanted to make into a TV series instead

Last year The Hollywood Reporter ran a story on Tom Cruise’s purported legal clash with Paramount over distribution rights to Mission : Impossible – Dead Recking Part 1. Among the issues, Cruise had apparently knocked back Paramount’s offer for a Days of Thunder TV series, which the actor-producer was seemingly dead against.

Today, we might have an answer why the Top Gun Maverick actor was said hellbent on putting an end to a small screen series based on the 1990 Tony Scott movie.

According to Giant Freakin Robot, Cruise and Top Gun Maverick director Joseph Kosinski are hatching a bigscreen movie sequel to Days of Thunder.

It’s likely that Cruise and Kosinski are eyeing something a little grander for the return of Cole Trickle than Paramount had planned for the small screen.
