Two and a Half Men star joins Supergirl as Lex Luthor

Jon Cryer, perhaps best known for his Emmy-winning role as Charlie Sheen’s bro on “Two and a Half Men”, is joining CW’s “Supergirl” in a recurring role as scheming villain Lex Luthor. Word is he will make his debut on the show in the 15th episode, to air in January.

Though Cryer comes to mind as the kinda-whiney Alan Harper in “Two and a Half Men”, the actor’s career breakthrough came in 1986 as “Duckie” Dale in “Pretty in Pink”.  If you need a reminder of the glorious ’80s ‘do, you’re welcome:

Regarding his casting, “Supergirl” exec producer Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller stated:

“We are enormous fans of Jon Cryer, and he was instantly our dream actor to play the iconic role of Lex Luthor. Jon is a super-talent, and the fact that he played Lenny Luthor in Superman IV brings an added layer of legacy to his casting. We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Jon to the Supergirl family.”

“We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since its inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe-to-toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister, Lena Luthor.”

Katie McGrath plays sister Lena, and Melissa Benoist is in the lead role of Supergirl.
