Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio follow-up will keep the Hellboy director at Netflix. The filmmaker has inked another deal with the streamer, this time on another major animated film that’ll helm.
The Buried Giant, based on the the fantasy novel by Nobel Prize-winning British writer Kazuo Ishiguro, is next on del Toro’s dance card.
Deadline, who had the news, says ‘the novel follows an elderly Briton couple, Axl and Beatrice, living in a fictional post-Arthurian England in which no one is able to retain long-term memories.’
The Pan’s Labyrinth filmmaker is co-writing the script with Matilda the Musical scribe Dennis Kelly.
