WTF : Your childhood favorite just got turned into a horror movie!

Whoever suggested this over at Olive Avenue might just the smartest or craziest exec in tinsletown. Guess the jury is out until later this year, when “The Banana Splits” – the horror film (!) hits DVD and VOD.

BURBANK, Calif. (February 19, 2019) A cult favorite children’s series gets a horror genre twist with the return of The Banana Splits in a new original film which will premiere in 2019 via Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, in advance of its television debut on SYFY.

The Banana Splits will offer a new take on the classic characters, which were first introduced to audiences in 1968 with The Banana Splits Adventure Hour variety program. In the upcoming horror thriller, a boy named Harley and his family (brother Austin, mother Beth and father Mitch) attend a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley and business as usual for Rebecca, the producer of the series. But things take an unexpected turn – and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom and their new pals safely escape?

The Banana Splits stars Dani Kind (Wyonna Earp) as Beth, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong (The Kindness of Strangers) as Harley, Romeo Carere as Austin, Steve Lund (Street Legal, Schitt’s Creek) as Mitch, and Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries, A Series of Unfortunate Events, War for the Planet of the Apes) as Rebecca. The beloved Bingo, Fleegle, Snorky and Drooper will also appear. The film is written by Jed Elinoff & Scott Thomas (Raven’s Home, My Super Psycho Sweet 16) and directed by Danishka Esterhazy (Level 16). The Banana Splits is produced by Blue Ribbon Content in association with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and SYFY.

Emily Blunt in negotiations to join Annapurna’s inspirational drama

Emily Blunt could join Annapurna’s inspirational drama “Not Fade Away”, which has David O. Russell and John Krasinski producing.

Via Variety, the project is based on Rebecca Alexander’s 2015 memoir “Not Fade Away: A Memoir of Senses Lost and Found.” Alexander was born with a rare genetic mutation called Usher syndrome type III and has been simultaneously losing both her sight and hearing since she was a child. A fall from a window left her body completely shattered at the age of 18, but over the next two decades, she became a psychotherapist with two masters’ degrees and an athlete who teaches spin classes — despite her limited sight and hearing.

Blunt and husband Krasinski will work together on “A Quiet Place 2”, with Blunt to star and Krasinski back to direct – with the film out in 2020.

First poster for the Dora the Explorer movie revealed!

The live-action adaptation of the Nickelodeon series reveals its first poster

“Dora the Explorer” is coming to our big screens with “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” hitting cinemas in August of this year. Paramount Pictures have revealed the first poster for the film, with Isabela Moner as Dora front and centre.

The film is a live-action adaptation of the animated Nickelodeon series, where lead character Dora went on adventures in the jungle. The live-action film sees a teenage Dora embark on the most dangerous adventure ever – high school.

She quickly finds herself leading Boots, Diego, and a ragtag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost Inca civilization. James Bobin directs the film.

Teaser trailer : Deadwood: The Movie

“Deadwood: The Movie” has been given an official release from HBO of May 31, and along with the announcement comes a teaser trailer! “Deadwood”, the series, was set in the 1870s, during the richest gold strike in U.S. history, which drew a number of people to a settlement in the Black Hills of what is now the state of South Dakota. The show aired from 2004 to 2006 for a total of 36 episodes.

Returning cast members for the film include Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, Molly Parker, Paula Malcomson, John Hawkes, Anna Gunn, Dayton Callie, Brad Dourif, Robin Weigert, William Sanderson, Kim Dickens, Gerald McRaney, Sean Bridgers, W. Earl Brown and Keone Young. Jade Pettyjohn also joins as a new cast member. Daniel Minahan is directing.

Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds are reopened, as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought. Starring Ian McShane, Timothy Olyphant, and Molly Parker. Deadwood: The Movie premieres May 31 on HBO.
