3-D Dead?

We’ve had a few emails lately – or rather I have, being the producer on it – about “Condition Dead”, the zombie-pic I’m developing with director Patrick Lussier (“My Bloody Valentine”). One of the emails, which I only just received overnight, I planned on answering in the Mailbag, but instead, I thought I’d run it here: If only because news is as slow as Wilford Brimley in a marathon today, and it might be a bit of interest to y’all who don’t usually read the Mailbag or the lunatic ravings of Caffeinated Clint – like Father Francis, who can’t stand the language in that thing.

‘Shannon’ was wondering what the status was of “Condition Dead” and whether Lussier is still attached to direct.

He is indeed – and he’s as excited as hell to get going on it. As we all are.

But I not need waffle, Patrick was more than happy to cough up an answer for him : “I still love Condition Dead. It’d be a hell of a 3-D movie”, he replies (also confirming in the email for Shannon that his “My Bloody Valentine” trailer will be attached to prints of “Saw 5” and that some new stills will hit the InterWeb soon. Can’t wait for those!).

So there’s a new tidbit for you kids.

Yep, that’s right, Patrick and I have discussed the possibility of following up his “My Bloody Valentine 3D” with “Condition Dead 3D” – and I’m all for it. Coffin Dodgers in the Third Dimension. Nice. Patrick’s done an amazing job on Lionsgate’s remake of the old George Milhaka horror classic and has apparently near perfected the 3D process (“[it looks] fuckin amazing” some industry professionals say). “Condition Dead” is a big, epic, action extravaganza that’ll be in your face enough, even without the glasses, but boy would it look in the format. What do you think? Would you like to see more 3D movies – especially horror movies? Of course, It’ll depend on the success of “My Bloody Valentine 3D”, but I don’t think we need worry about that being a hit – it’s reportedly great; I personally can’t wait to see it. Please get out and see it when it’s released.

“Condition Dead”, based on a script for David Davis, is about a group of zombie-hunters, employed by the government, who find themselves ambushed by one of their own. Luther Judge and his team of specialists are the government’s response whenever the dead rise from the grave. But a new assignment finds them contending with a mysterious and lethal zombie menace… and Judge’s ex-wife.
