9 to 5 sequel is dead, says Tomlin

The long-gestating follow-up to ’80s comedy hit “9 to 5” is dead, according to Lily Tomlin.

Tomlin, who was expected to reunite with co-stars Dolly Parton and Jane Fonda for the sequel, tells Entertainment Tonight that it just didn’t work out.

“I don’t think we’re going to do the sequel”, the former “West Wing” actress said. She further explained that “we never could get the script where it was enough different than the first one, and that one turned out so good”.

As a consolation, “we might do a completely different thing together”, added Tomlin.
