A Brandon Walsh Film

Even when he was on “90210” it was pretty clear that pin-up Jason Priestely would rather be hanging around the DGA then on a teenager’s wall. He directed quite a few episodes of the sudsy soap in his day, as well as eps of “Grosse Pointe”, “The Outer Limits” and “Seventh Heaven”. He even returned to West Beverly High to direct (he refused to act) an episode of the “90210” reboot.

In other words, Priestley has proved he can direct TV.

Can he direct a feature, though?

We’re about to find out.

Priestley will helm big-screen drug tale “Death of a Freerider”, according to Variety.

The actor, also known for his work on the series’ “Tru Calling” and “Love Monkey”, optioned the feature rights to “Freerider,” penned by Jesse Hyde for Rolling Stone about Sam Brown, a 22-year-old Canadian mountain biker who took his quest for adventure into the multi-million dollar business of cross-border drug smuggling, which ultimately lead to his death.

So long as Priestley’s not planning on playing the “22-year-old Canadian mountain biker”, this might make for an OK piece.
