Alex Cross to join Jack Ryan over on Amazon

With literary faves Jack Ryan and Lincoln Rhymes now fixtures on the tube, no surprise to hear that Alex Cross, the hero of James Patterson’s series of novels, is also about to snag his own TV series.

The detective and forensic scientist was last seen on screens in the 2012 film “Alex Cross”, portrayed by Tyler Perry. Prior to that, Morgan Freeman played the character in two films, “Kiss the Girls” and “Along Came a Spider”.

The series is being produced by Amazon with Patterson and Bill Robinson of James Patterson Entertainment executive producing along with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Marcy Ross for Skydance Television. The series hails from Amazon Studios, Paramount Television Studios, and Skydance.

Amazon, Skydance, and Paramount previously teamed on the successful small screen adaptation of “Jack Ryan”, with John Krasinski playing the Tom Clancy-creation.
