All-American Reject to play Greg Allman

Tyson Ritter, lead singer of All-American Rejects, has been cast as Gregg Allman in Randall Miller’s musical biopic.

Wyatt Russell – Kurt’s boy – is playing brother Duane Allman in the film, based on Randall Miller and Jody Savin’s adaptation of Greg Allman’s memoir “My Cross to Bear”.

According to THR, Tyson and Wyatt will perform vocals, guitar, piano and organ throughout the film.

“The world knows Tyson as a extraordinary musician and performer; now the world will know what an amazing actor he is as well,” said director Miller (“CBGB”).

The Allman brothers scored many hits throughout the ’70s, including “Ramblin’ Man,” “Midnight Rider,” “Whipping Post” and “Jessica.”
