Another Aussie set for 007 gig?

The net’s abuzz that Clive Owen’s a shoe-in to take over the role of debonair 007 when Pierce Brosnan hands in the keys to the Aston Martin, but according to an insider for NW Magazine Owen mightn’t be the favourite after all. “A list of possible successors has already been drawn up – and Hugh is at the very top. He’s got what the producers are looking for: dark good looks, sex appeal, a sense of humour and box-office clout. He’s also the right age”. 35 year old Jackman joins a list of potentials that includes Ralph Fiennes, Dougray Scott, Colin Farrell and the previously mooted Owen. Funnily enough, Mel Gibson was at one time rumoured to be up for the James Bond gig, but nothing ever eventuated. If Jackman can fit it in – what with half a dozen "X-Men" related projects in the pipeline – it might be a cool move.
