Writer/director J.D. Dillard (“Sleight”) and writer Matt Owens (“Luke Cage”) have been tapped to develop a new “Star Wars” film for Walt Disney and Lucasfilm, according to THR.
This new project, which isn’t connected to the “Star Wars” films being developed by Kevin Feige and Rian Johnson, respectively, could be headed to theaters or Disney+ – nothing’s been revealed on that front.
A later report at Deadline suggesting that the film would be set on Exegol, the planet Palpatine was hanging out in “The Rise of Skywalker”, has been debunked by THR.
Just a clarification: The new #StarWars project does not take place on Exegol. I wrote a casual and fun line regarding plot details being unknown but tied it to the subject matter (I do that sometimes) and Deadline has taken it and run with it. https://t.co/qeU496aVFf
