Official : Arnold doing cartoon series!

Update! Arnold Schwarzenegger and Marvel legend Stan Lee tell Entertainment Weekly – which also has the newly-animated Arnold on the cover – that they’re collaborating on a new cartoon series called “The Governator”.

“The Governator is going to be a great superhero, but he’ll also be Arnold Schwarzenegger,” Lee says of the semi-fictional character. “We’re using all the personal elements of Arnold’s life. We’re using his wife [Maria Shriver]. We’re using his kids. We’re using the fact that he used to be governor. Only after he leaves the governor’s office, Arnold decides to become a crime fighter and builds a secret high-tech crime-fighting center under his house in Brentwood.”

EW says that along with the Arnold Cave, the Governator will have a fleet of super vehicles at his disposal, a closet full of “Super Suits” that allow him to fly and perform other super stunts, and a team of colorful sidekicks, such as Zeke Muckerberg, the precocious 13-year-old computer whiz who acts as the Governator’s cybersecurity expert. The villains will be… G.I.R.L.I.E Men.

“I love the idea of a control center below my house with a path so that boats and submarines can go right into the ocean,” he tells EW. “In the cartoon, my house is much closer to the beach than where we live, but, you know, it’s a cartoon.”

That Arnold Schwarzenegger TV series that the big guy’s going to announce in Cannes in a coupla weeks? Could be a ‘toon.

Deadline reports that Schwarzenegger’s partner on the TV series is former DIC chairman and CEO Andy Heyward, who now heads children’s entertainment company A Squared, thus the talk of a new Schwarzenegger-voiced animated series.

Heyward is known for producing ‘educational’ series though, so what could it be? An animated ‘get fit’ show for kids?

There’s the other possibility though, a new animated superhero series that Schwarzenegger tipped The Arnold Fans website off to a few weeks back. Word is that Schwarzenegger’s doing something with Stan Lee’s crowd.

Either way, we’ll find out April 4 when Schwarzenegger spills the beans.
