Barbra Streisand is attached to direct historical drama “Catherine the Great”.
Casting is under way on the project with Gil Netter is producing.
Streisand will helm from Kristina Lauren Anderson’s Black List script which follows a young, sensual Catherine who was trapped in an abusive marriage with the heir to the Russian throne. But, when her inept husband proves incapable of ruling, she utilizes her intelligence, fortitude, and passion to rise to power, becoming Catherine the Great.
