Take Taylor Lautner Home!

He’s already a toy – but now Taylor Lautner’s going to get the plastic gun to go with!

“Twilight” fave Lautner is tipped to be stepping into the 3x2cm shoes of Mattel’s Max Steel.

As you’ll recall, Paramount are developing a feature film based on the toy line (which debuted in 2001) and Lautner, whose calendar remains wide-open next year (he’s just completed Garry Marshall’s “Valentine’s Day” with his honey Taylor Swift, due out, of course, in February) has emerged as a frontrunner, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The actor, forever known as Bella’s [somewhat] beloved Jacob Black, would play Josh McGrath, a 19-year-old extreme-sports athlete who is accidentally exposed to the unleashed power of nanotechological machines, which become part of him and (in the old show, at least) give him increased strength, near-invulnerability and the ability to change his appearance.

“Max Steel” is Latin America’s most popular action figure.

Not surprisingly, considering his rising statue, every studio in town is clamouring to get the 17-year-old onboard a project. Lautner’a also proved he can get young ladies into theatres (and since they’re usually the ones that demands popcorn and sweets in addition to a ticket, it’s a fiscally better situation for the ‘plexes!); another reason he’s so in-demand right now.

J.P. Lavin and Chad Damiani wrote the script for “Max Steel”. It was quickly picked up by producer Joe Roth, of “xXx” fame – which might hint to the tone of the eventual flick.
