Brian to retire, not die in Fast & Furious 7

Paul Walker’s “Fast and Furious” character is set to be “retired” from the seventh film in the franchise, following the actor’s shock death.

Walker passed away last year about half way through filming “Fast 7”, leaving a devastated team with the dilemma of what to do with Walker’s character Brian O’Conner.

Now, THR reports that Brian O’Conner will not be killed off  – perhaps a somewhat crude option anyway, bearing in mind the circumstances – and will instead be retired in a way that both satisfies fans and makes good use of the Walker footage already captured.

The script will be tweaked and extra scenes will be shot in order to send Brian O’Connor off. Universal hopes to do so in a way that will allow him to remain a part of the story while permitting advancement of the franchise.

Following Walker’s death, the studio announced an eight-month delay of release of the film, providing the time needed to make the necessary changes.
