Sylvester Stallone has rounded up one hell of a cast for his punch-packed passion pic “The Expendables†– aside from himself, there’s Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture and Arnold Schwarzenegger (who will shoot a cameo in Los Angeles for the film in a month’s time or thereabouts). Is there anyone Sly’s forgotten to call?
Seems not. Sly’s been through his little black-book and then some. Just because we won’t see them on screen doesn’t mean they weren’t asked. In addition to Jean Claude Van Damme (who knocked back a role in the film), Stallone tells StalloneZone that he did offer his old “Tango & Cash†co-star Kurt Russell a piece of the action too. Unfortunately Goldie’s beau nixed the offer.
Stallone says, ‘’I know that many people on the site have asked for Kurt Russell. I asked for him too. Actually, I was taken aback when asked to put the request in a letter and send it to his agent. Subsequently, I was called back by the agent several days later after refusing to send a letter and he said Kurt Russell is not interested in ‘ensemble acting’ at this time. So, People, I came, I saw, I failedâ€.
Um, what gives Kurt? “Miracle 2” gearing up? Or is this a case of an agent not even relaying a message to a client? Wouldn’t surprise me at all. Smells like a gatekeeper decision to me.
