The Lone Ranger
UK actress Ruth Wilson, best known for her role in 2006′s TV mini-series ”Jane Eyre”, is in talks to star as the female lead in Disney’s ”Lone Ranger” opposite Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp. Hammer will take on the role of Masked Man and Depp will take on the role of Tonto. Details of Wilson’s role is sketchy, but it is the female lead whose name is Rebecca. Set to be produced and directed by Gore Verbinski (”Pirates of the Caribbean”), the film will hit theaters on December 21, 2012. (More…)
Phil Spector Biopic
Bette Midler has been forced to pull out of HBO’s Phil Spector biopic due to an injury. ”Sources tell me she has a herniated disc and pulled out because of “doctor’s orders”. Two hours after call writer/director David Mamet addressed the crew saying that HBO and the insurance company were looking at recasting the part. HBO has confirmed to me it will. Midler had been about to play Linda Kenney Baden, a defense attorney who represented the music producer during his first trial for murder….” (More…)
Rock of Ages
Adam Shankman is currently filming his next musical film, ”Rock of Ages” and despite that, a new cast member has been added. SNL alum Will Forte will join the flick in the role of Mitch Miley, the head anchor of a network news show. The part was not in the stage musical. Forte joins an all-star cast that includes Tom Cruise, Malin Akerman, Alec Baldwin, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Julianne Hough, Catherine Zeta-Jones and newcomer Diego Gonzalez Boneta. “Rock of Ages” tells the story of a small-town girl (Hough) who comes to Hollywood for the 1980s music scene and is nearly destroyed by it. Although she falls for a budding musician named Drew (Boneta), she also catches the eye of Stacee Jaxx (Cruise), an arrogant rocker at the height of his career. She ends up as a stripper in a club run by Blige but also finds true love at the end. (More…)
The Paperboy
Has this movie had it’s fair share of problems or what! Back in May, it was announced that Matthew McConaughey, Sofia Vergara, Tobey Maguire and Zac Efron would star in Lee Daniels’ upcoming film ”The Paperboy”. Since that news originally broke, there’s been some cast shake-ups including Sofia Vergara dropping out, Nicole Kidman replacing her, and now Tobey Maguire has dropped out of the film and will be replaced by 2012 star John Cusack. Phew! Based on the 1995 novel by Pete Dexter, the Florida-set period film finds two brothers (McConaughey and Efron), who work together to save the life of a death row inmate (Cusack) after a woman (Kidman) brings his particular case to the attention their attention. Cusack will play the condemned prisoner, while Kidman will play a woman with a dark side who writes letters to men on death row. Of the original cast, McConaughey and Efron remain. (More…)

“True Blood” hottie Deborah Ann Woll is joining Steve Coogan, Elliot GOuld and Chris Messina in Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris’ follow-up to ”Little Miss Sunshine”. What to Expect When You’re Expecting
Chace Crawford (“Gossip Girl”) has been cast to star along with Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Brooklyn Decker, Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick and Rob Huebel in the bubby comedy. Crawford will play Marco in one of the film’s interlocking stories. His character reunites with an attractive old flame (Kendrick) after a turf war between their respective food trucks, and they embark on a funny, poignant journey together in the wake of a surprise pregnancy.
