Could having those two “Exorcist” flicks out be any more exciting? It’ll be amusing If they’ve both as entertaining as a limp trick dog though, won’t it? Or even worse, imagine if folks like Schrader’s version better? The mind boggles. Oh, and Aussies – don’t forget our “Welcome to the Jungle” comp this week. Yeah, I know, we’re making you work for these prize packs. What’s amusing is that hardly anyone has noticed that one of the questions is a ‘trick’ question. I guess that’s a clue. And best of luck to our ol pal, Laura Harring, for “The Punisher”. Not that she’ll need it – the word is genuinely good. Lions Gate employees were even shouted free Japanese slippers at Friday drinkies last week.

  • According to a report on Superhero Hype, ‘Jigsaw’, will the villain of “The Punisher 2”.

  • According to Monkey Peaches, John McTiernan [“Die Hard”] will direct a film adaptation of the novel series “John Dee”. The film, which will be shot at Hengdian World Studios, tells of Dee, or Di Renjie, from China’s Tang Dynasty.

  • Does it ever end? Wes Craven is doing more reshoots for “Cursed” this week. Apparently, that’s the last. And yep, there’s sequel talk already.

  • Hero Realm has a transcript up of Laura Harring’s press conference for “The Punisher”.

  • James Gartner has been hired to make his feature directorial debut on Ben Affleck starrer “Glory Road”.

  • John Waters tells Zap2it.com a little bit about his death scene in “Seed of Chucky”.

  • Kelly Hu [“X-Men 2”] has joined the “Dark Shadows” pilot. She’ll play Dr. Julia Hoffman, a physician who soon discovers that Barnabas Collins is a vampire.

  • Bloody Disgusting have a description of the new “Seed of Chucky” trailer up.

  • James Foley [“Confidence”] will direct “Hard Hearts”, a comic crime actioner about a bounty-hunting couple who chase down their most dangerous target while planning their wedding.

  • Irwin Winker will direct “Man on Third”, focusing on the relationship between two brothers. One is a successful Major League Baseball player, the other a scientist who lives in his shadow.

  • Andrew Davis [“Holes”] will direct “The Guardian”, which centers on a rebellious young man whose life is veering out of control. He enlists in the Coast Guard, where he forms a mentor-type friendship with a legendary rescue swimmer who lost his crew in a fatal crash. The older man helps turn around the life of the younger man by teaching him the meaning of sacrifice.

  • It’s a greenlight for “The Sandlot 2”. The sequel to the family favourite rolls this year. No cast announced yet.

  • Universal Pictures and producer Barry Josephson have tapped screenwriter Amy B. Harris to write “Switched”, a comedy about twins separated at birth.

  • According to The Digital Bits, MGM are releasing two new special edition versions of “Species” and “Species 2” to be released in conjunction with the upcoming DTV effort “Species 3”.

  • Creature Corner says that there’s a rumour floating about suggesting David Goyer has shot two or three different endings to “Blade 3”, one in which Blade [Wesley Snipes] gets dusted.

  • Screenwriters Voice has a pretty comprehensive article up about “The Crow : Wicked Prayer”.

  • Latino Review has the poster up of “The Bourne Supremacy”.

  • Britney Spears might be starring in her own reality series. It would follow the lives of Spears and her fellow dancers on the upcoming European leg of the Onyx Hotel Tour, her steamy concert series.

  • SneakPeek.CA reports that Arizona film company CEI Entertainment has announced it has secured an exclusive option on a two-picture deal with genre screenwriting team Ron Shusett and Ian Rabin. The two films are "Double Time", a Prince and pauper story, and "My Brother the Gorilla" a family comedy.

  • MediaSharx have pics up from the upcoming “Angel” episode “Origin”.

  • The first 8 minutes of the film – and it’s trailer – “Shade” starring Sylvester Stallone is up at ifilm. There’s also an amusing spoof of “The Passion of Christ” on the site here.
