Clints Bits – 3/9


The “Batman” situation has been sending us webmasters bonkers the last few months. In fact, the inbox is usually so full of either ‘Batman’ or ‘Superman’ rumours; you’ve just got to shrug some of them off after a while. But at long last – and here’s hoping it’s a sign that it’s finally going to be more than an exasperating proclamation – Chris Nolan is reportedly auditioning actors this week for the Cape. Few surprises in there – in particular, Christian Bale. Now as far as I know, Warner’s doesn’t want to touch Bale. Namely because of his poor track record of late, so it’ll be interesting to see how that goes. But also, Pacey? Joshua Jackson as Batman? Remember folks we ain’t talking the ‘Year One’ project. Whatever the case, should be something cement by Christmas, since the film’s due to start filming in February. Meantime, we’ll try find out more on the auditions as the week progresses..

  • Rae Allen – soon in “Spider-Man 2” – will play the late Livia Soprano’s sister in TV’s “The Sopranos”. It’s rumoured she’ll be the new family matriarch.

  • Superhero Hype has received a poster that was on ebay advertising “The Fantastic Four” movie. It’s still not known whether it’s legit or not.

  • Channel 7 [Australia] has axed one of its flagship shows, “Always Greener”, reportedly because they’re cutting costs.

  • According to Aint it Cool, a film based on “Opus”, oh and the cat, is in the works over at Dimension.

  • The SMH reports that Stephan Elliot’s next film “Venetian Wedding” will be filmed in Sydney, reportedly this Summer.

  • The Z Review is reporting a rumour that a sequel to “Ghost in the Shell” called, “Ghost in the Shell : Innocence” is coming out late Summer 2004.

  • According to Dark Horizons, Roland Emmerich is a contender to direct the feature film adaptation of “Dragonball Z”.

  • Universal Pictures are re-releasing “Scarface” to selected cinemas on September 19th. They’re new 35mm prints struck from restored film elements, and a newly remixed digital soundtrack

  • Mario Bello [“Duets”] has joined the cast of John Sayles’ next film “Silver City”. The murder mystery is about a gubernatorial campaign and disgraced investigative reporter in Colorado.

  • Cinescape reports that the first trailer of “Resident Evil 2” will screen with “Underworld”. In addition, one for “Spider-Man 2” is likely to screen with Ron Howard’s “The Missing”

  • Seems George Clooney is still the favourite to play Mr Fantastic in “The Fantastic Four” movie, according to Aint it Cool.

  • Aint it Cool News is reporting that Hollywood is gearing up for another remake – this time the so/so “Penitentiary”.

  • Hollywood Dreams Online have a look at new “Kill Bill” Rare Mylar poster at the aforesaid link.

  • Vincenzo Natali has come onboard to direct “Necropolis” for Dimension Films. The film is a psychological thriller set in Chicago.

  • Willem Dafoe and Cate Blanchett are poised to join Bill Murray, Anjelica Huston and Owen Wilson in the adventure comedy "The Life Aquatic" for Director Wes Anderson.

  • Roselyn Sanchez will star in “The Underclassman”, about a young detective who goes undercover at an elite private school and stumbles upon an international stolen car ring.
