Cloverfield director heads to Planet of the Apes

With his departure from the “Twilight Zone” flick last week, followed by reports that he was amongst names on the shortlist to take the reigns on “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, I think it’s safe to say Matt Reeves booked his latest job a wee bit ago.

Officialized today, the “Cloverfield” director has been sworn in to helm Fox’s “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” sequel. He steps in for Rupert Wyatt, the first film’s helmer, who decided not to resume his post on the sequel.

Reeves, who also helmed the terrific vampire flick “Let Me In” a couple of years back, bet a slew of directors to the job on the chimp-buster. Savvy choice on Fox’s behalf!
