Dark pic for Zemeckis

Disney and Robert Zemeckis (“Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”, “A Christmas Carol”) will reteam on “Dark Life”, a film adaptation of Kat Falls’ upcoming young adult novel.

Envisioned as the start of a new family franchise, “Dark Life” fixes on “a near-future world in which rising ocean levels and natural catastrophes have led some people to homestead on the ocean floor, and kids to develop supernatural powers. Story centers on an underwater teenage boy and a surface girl who join forces to uncover a government conspiracy”, says Variety.

It’s not yet known whether Zemeckis plans to shoot this – like most of his other flicks – via the performance-capture process.

Zemeckis’ other upcoming credits include “The Yellow Submarine” and, if the rumour mill is correct, a sequel to 80s hit “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”.
