Denzel Wasington enters Safe House

Denzel Washington, like John Travolta, makes for a terrific bad guy – he just doesn’t splash in those murky waters often enough. Thankfully, he’s decided to expose his Jekyll once again in Universal’s action/thriller “Safe House”.

In the Daniel Espinosa directed flick, Washington (who won an Oscar for his role as crooked cop Alonzo Harris in “Training Day”) will play a dangerous prisoner being escorted through menacing territory by a young CIA agent.

Adds Risky Business, “The storyline follows the only surviving agent of an attack on a CIA safe house as he tries to get a lethal prisoner to a second safe house before being taken out by violent forces that want them both dead.”

Washington, who’ll next be seen in hero guise for Tony Scott’s Runaway Train thriller “Unstoppable”, had been on the project’s radar for months.

David Guggenheim’s script was snapped up by Uni in February.
