Director News : Singularity, Lamb of God, J.Edgar, Hero

Singularity

A new hush-hush project by “2012” director Roland Emmerich looks set to land at Columbia, says THR.

With a working title of “Singularity”, and based on a spec by Emmerich himself, the picture tells of…. well, no idea; it’s all under wraps.

One can only assume it’s another of these blow-shit-up movies…

Lamb of God

“Juno” scribe Diablo Cody will make her directorial debut with the story of a young conservative religious woman who loses her faith after a plane crash, decides to go to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner, and on her journey finds her way back to her faith. Cody wrote the script, says THR.

J.Edgar

Clint Eastwood’s J.Edgar Hoover biopic, starring Clint Eastwood, opens in October. No concrete date for the release, just that it’ll – assumingly – not open the week of Halloween.

The Mission

Warner Bros wants David O.Russell to direct their Colombia hostage drama. They also want Brad Pitt to star. ”The picture is basically the methodical six-year mission planned by American and Colombian covert operatives to free 15 hostages from the Colombian jungle. The hostages included three Americans and Ingrid Betancourt, once a candidate for President of Colombia”, says Deadline.

Miserable Excuse for a Hero

Phil Claydon will direct a film adaptation of the D.V. De Vincentis-scripted adaptation of Bob Powers’ comic novel ”You Are A Miserable Excuse For A Her”, about ”a 30-year-old part-time actor/full-time waiter goes on a date with a girl he kind of likes. The next day, he’s awakened by a phone call from kidnappers who tell him they have his girlfriend, and will kill her if he doesn’t come up with $50,000 in ransom” says Deadline.
