Disney, Dwayne Johnson announce live-action Moana

Black Adam‘s Dwayne Johnson has taken to his social accounts to announce a live-action take on Moana is in development. The actor, who voiced the demigod Maui in the original film, taped a video message from Hawaii pertaining to the Disney venture, which he will produce alongside partners Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia and Beau Flynn. Original Moana voice actor Auli’i Cravalho and Scott Sheldon are also onboard to produce, with Moana screenwriter Jared Bush involved in some capacity.

The project, the latest live-action take on a Disney animated title following The Lion King, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid, will lens in Hawaii.
