Street Fighter film and TV projects in the works at Legendary

The studio working with Campcom on future projects

Legendary have acquired the film and TV rights to the classic video game series Street Fighter. The company, says THR, will work with video game owner Capcom on future projects.

Previous film and series incarnations include the 1994 film Street-Fighter starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009), which starred Kristin Kreuk. A variety of other incarnations followed, largely in the realm of animated series.

A new instalment in the video game series, Street Fighter 6, is due out June 2.
