Disney has Dogs and Samurais

Why not combine both and do ‘Samurai Dogs’?

So much for wishful thinking that it had fallen by the way side. We’re not so lucky it seems.

According to Variety, it’s full speed ahead on Disney’s “Wild Hogs 2” – with returning stars John Travolta, Martin Lawrence, Tim Allen and William H.Macy all holding their buckets out.

“Wild Hogs” Director Walt Becker is the new golden boy over at Disney it seems. He’s also just inked a first-look deal at the studio to develop projects to direct and produce.

First up is the comic pitch “My Samurai,” with Matt Lopez to pen the script. Becker will direct, and he will produce with Mandeville partners David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman.

The story concerns an American who, while on a business trip to Japan, saves the life of a homeless man who claims he’s the last in a long line of samurai. The businessman’s life is turned upside down when the so-called samurai shows up on his doorstep, pledging eternal service and loyalty.

“It’s funny with a lot of heart,” Becker told the trade.

Becker will next direct the Disney comedy “Old Dogs,” with John Travolta and Robin Williams.
