Former “Buffy” and “Dollhouse” unit Joss Whedon and Eliza Dushku are reuniting for a feature film.
Dushku spilt the beans in an interview with Hollywood Life (who also asked her about her rumoured involvement in “Ghostbusters 3” – which, not surprisingly, she knows nothing about), saying little about the Whedon project only that it’ll be a “kickass feature” that they’ve “been thinking about for a few years”.
Hmmm…. Might be this be the long-gestating “The Goners”? A project Whedon’s been trying to get airborne for quite a few years now… a project he himself declared dead a year back?
In a May 2009 interview with The Cinema Source, “Serenity” director Whedon explained the impetus of the horror flick.
“It’s about a girl named Mia, people know that, who sort of sees in a mystical way the underbelly of the city and of human society, and goes through a kind of extraordinary hell, and we all have a lot of fun in the process. …This is much more a story about — literally about human connection and whether or not it’s possible. … But it’s told on a very mystical scale and, in a way like everything I’ve tried to do including Buffy, it’s an antidote to that very kind of film, the horror movie with the expendable human beings in it. Because I don’t believe any human beings are”.
The writer/director added at the time that Universal passed on the project because, rather alarmingly, it wasn’t a sequel to anything.
