Etan Cohen has been hired to write and direct a relaunch of the “Cannonball Run” franchise for Warner Bros, reports Deadline.
Andre Morgan and Alan Gasmer are producing. Albert S. Ruddy and Raymond Chow are the exec producers.
Warner Bros nabbed the rights to the original trilogy of films which starred Burt Reynolds, Frank Sinatra, Roger Moore, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Dom DeLuise, among others.
Directed by Hal Needham, “The Cannonball Run” centred on a variety of eccentric competitors who will do anything to win a wild and illegal cross-country road race.
