Expendables : A Christmas Story adds Iko Uwais

The star of “The Raid” and “Snake Eyes” boards spin-off of Stallone series

Paramount Pictures

Iko Uwais has boarded Lionsgate’s “The Expendables : A Christmas Story”, director Simon Waugh’s spin-off of the all-star action films that teamed Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham and others.

The star of “The Raid” will play the villain in a film that focuses largely around Statham’s Lee Christmas character. Stallone, Lundgren and Randy Couture appear from the previous films, while Megan Fox, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Jacob Scipio and Andy Garcia are also on the roster.

Uwais plays a former military officer-turned-arms dealer with his own private army, says Deadline.

Sylvester Stallone, who only has a very brief role in the new film, posted on social media last week that he was officially exiting “The Expendables” series, handing the baton to Statham.
