Remake of De Palma classic in the cards
A remake of the horror film – hmmm, now there’s something you don’t hear every day; I’m being a mordant fuck, don’t mind me – “The Fury”, is in the works over at Fox 2000, says Variety.
The Brian De Palma directed original, released in 1978, centred on a teenage girl, Gillian Bellaver (Amy Irving) who discovers that she possesses psychic powers, including telekinesis and extra-sensory perception, but that other people suffer bleeding if they touch her.
The new version, to be penned by Brian McGreevy and Lee Shipman, will center on a young man with heightened kinetic powers who is abducted by the government in order to take advantage of his special gifts.
By switching the gender of the lead character, they’ve just made it original, ya see? (Again, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit).
