Finally!… a De Niro and 50 Cent two-hander!

Without questioning Mr De Niro’s choices too much, I must ask ‘Really? Bob, Really?’

De Niro’s teaming with Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson (who you’ll recall had a small role in De Niro and Pacino’s nightmarish reunion “Righteous Kill”) for the Jessy Terrero-directed ”Freelancers”. Forest Whitaker is in negotiations to join the duo.

The film lenses in New Orleans April 18.

Says Deadline, “Jackson plays the son of a slain NYPD officer who, with his two best friends, joins the Police Academy. After graduating, he’s taken under the wing of his father’s former partner Captain Vic Sarcone (De Niro) in the ranks of Sarcone’s Street Vice Crime Task Force and he becomes part of Scarcone’s rogue task force.”

This is another one of those Emmett/Furla produced flicks, ya know, the ones that are near always filmed in New Orleans (to save bucks), usually have ’50 Cent’ or Val Kilmer or Christian Slater in them (or a combination of), and by-and-large turn out terrible. De Niro’s worked with Emmett/Furla before, on “Righteous Kill” – you’d think he’d know better.
