From the director of The Town and the producer of Die Hard

A few short years ago it looked like Ben Affleck might be stucking putting food on the table by paddling in the same river of poo he’d come across “Forces of Nature” and “Changing Lanes” in; then he decided to give directing a go. The rest, as the Bio Channel says, is history.

Following Affleck’s bravura directorial debut “Gone Baby Gone” and sensational sophmore effort “The Town”, Affleck got knee-deep in “Argo”, filming at the moment in some lavish location on the other side of the globe. All three of the films are bound to end up on atleast a few critics’ top 10 films of the 2000’s lists when all is done and dusted on the era.

And now comes news of a fourth directing project for Affleck.

THR reports :

Affleck is in negotiations to star in, direct and produce Line of Sight, an action project at Warner Bros. that is being produced by Joel Silver and Andrew Rona.

The idea, conceived by Silver Pictures’ Alex Heineman (who also exec produces), centers on an elite commando squad transporting cargo while dealing with a global threat. One of the conceits of the movie is that it tells the tale from a point-of-view akin to a first-person shooter game. The script was recently worked on by Peter O’Brien, the man who wrote the game Halo: Reach for Xbox 360.

The project was initially picked up by Warner Bros.-based Silver Pictures in March as a spec written by F. Scott Frazier.

Ben Affleck directing “Doom”? Hmmm.. maybe that’ll just work. After his past couple of films, I’m willing to believe in the man.
