George counts from 13 to 36

Clooney joins De Niro for Copper Remake

Now this is a double-act: George Clooney and Robert De Niro.

Two of the best actors of ‘our’ times are teaming up for a remake – obviously spurred on by the success of that other little English-language remake of late, from Martin Scorsese – of the French cop drama “36 Quai des Orfevres”, says MTV.

Directing “36” is Marc Forster, who recently helmed the Will Ferrell-wants-to-do-something-different effort, “Stranger than Fiction”, so it’s bound to be slick enough anyway.

What I think is rather amusing is the reply that Forster gave to Time Out last March when asked about his rumoured attachment to the film.

“No. They offered it to me but I turned it down and I don’t know how it got on imdb. We’ve been trying to get it off imdb for months and it’s somehow still there!”

Pricelesss. He’s obviously had the gag taken off since then.

“36” will tell of cops competing for a promotion. The two former friends now work for different departments, and are determined to catch a gang of violent robbers in order to get the job they’re after.
