Holmes, Mclean readying two Aussie bush-ranger movies – one a Creature Feature

Melbourne filmmaker Matthew Holmes (“Twin Rivers”) and “Wolf Creek” helmer Greg Mclean have teamed for Aussie bushranger tale “The Legend of Ben Hall”.

According to Inside Film, Hall’s script was originally conceived as a short but donations kept rolling in and the filmmaker and his team opted to extend the film to an hour.

While shooting the film, Holmes cut together a trailer which caught the eye of Odin’s Eye Entertainment. The latter ended up bankrolling a movie-sized version of “Ben Hall”.

While the production already had leads, the second shooting period enabled the filmmakers to rope in some bigger names – like “Great Gatsby” actor Callan McAuliffe.

Pinnacle films will distribute the movie sometime later this year.

Next, Holmes reunites with Odin’s Eye and Mclean for a creature feature set in the bushranger era.

“It should be fun”, Holmes tells the outlet.
