Guardians star flies in to help struggling biopic Bolden

Michael Rooker

Michael Rooker, currently wearing blue goo in “Guardians of the Galaxy”, is returning to a shoot a movie he started filming back in 2009, according to Deadline.

“Bolden”, from writer/director/financier Dan Pritzker, started filming seven years ago and did reshoots in 2009, but things continued to go downhill and the film’s been on pause ever since.

Anthony Mackie was the film’s original star, playing New Orleans cornet player Buddy Bolden, but the “Captain America : The Winter Soldier” star skipped out once the hiccups set in. Gary Carr (“Downton Abbey”) is the film’s new lead.

Also now out, Jackie Earl Haley, who was originally plying Judge Perry. Ian McShane has now stepped in to play that role.

“True Blood” alum Nelsan Ellis also recently joined the cast as Bartley, the wily entrepreneur who manages the Bolden Band.

Third time’s the charm on “Bolden”, which kicks off [again] this Fall.
