STEALTH MEDIA GROUP SOWS HOWARD DEUTCH’S WILD OATS STARRING SHIRLEY MACLAINE, JACKI WEAVER AND ALAN ARKIN

London and LA based Stealth Media Group (SMG), an all rights film distributor and international film and TV sales company, has boarded Wild Oats, the comedy written by Gary Kanew and Claudia Myers and directed by Howard Deutch (Pretty In Pink, My Best Friend’s Girl).

Described as a cross between Thelma & Louise and Sideways, Wild Oats stars Shirley Maclaine, Jacki Weaver and Alan Arkin and is produced by Blythe Frank, Agathe David-Weill and Alexander Tabrizi, with Michael Mailer Executive Producing.

Everything changes for EVA (Maclaine) when she receives a Social Security check accidentally made out for $900,000 instead of her usual $900. At the not-so-gentle urging of her best friend MADDIE, EVA deposits the money and takes the chance it offers them to escape from small town life. Their destination is Las Vegas and they have every intention of living it up. But their fantasy is short-lived when they awake to discover that they have become media sensations overnight and fugitives from justice, forced to outwit a trio of conmen, outmaneuver a dogged social security agent VESPUCCI who has teamed up with EVA’s daughter, CRYSTAL, and outrun the law. What they don’t expect is to be good at it….

Blythe Frank commented: “We’re incredibly lucky to have three academy award winning and nominated actors in our film – it doesn’t get any better than the comic genius of Shirley MacLaine, Jacki Weaver and Alan Arkin. We look forward to making this picture in May. We’ve chosen Stealth to represent this project because of their expertise, knowledge of the marketplace and strong relationships within the industry. Together we’re going to make a stellar film.”

SMG was formed in February 2009 by film entrepreneurs Michael L. Cowan, and Jason Piette one of Europe’s most dynamic independent film production and finance teams, and Sean O’Kelly, who has acquired and sold hundreds of films, from library films to sales of new productions.

Head of sales at SMG is Juan Vista Neis, located in the Stealth Media Office in LA, reporting to the joint CEOs – Michael L Cowan and Sean O’Kelly who head worldwide sales, whilst Jason Piette heads the Los Angeles Operation.
