Hunger Games helmer to direct Netflix’s Bioshock movie

The long-awaited feature film adaptation of video game Bioshock has inched ahead with Deadline reporting that Hunger Games and Constantine helmer Francis Lawrence has been tapped to direct.

Michael Green is scripting the film, which is being produced by Netflix.

Lawrence would move onto Bioshock after completing work on Lionsgate’s Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which is in production now and will premiere in 2023.

The video game is set in the ’60s and tells of a man who discovers the underwater city of Rapture – an isolated utopia that encompasses a genetic material which grants superhuman powers.
