Disney is planning a modern-day “Oliver Twist” remake with Ice Cube set to star as Fagin, reports THR.
Described as a modern, musical take on the Charles Dickens story, the project will be directed by Thomas Kail with Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz writing the treatment.
Marc Platt and Kwatinetz of The Firm are producing along with Cube via Cube Vision.
“Oliver Twist” centres on an orphan boy who leaves his life as an exploited child laborer behind when he meets a group of young boys working as pickpockets for their master Fagin.
